Call Connector integrates seamlessly with Smokeball through API Key authentication, automatically capturing all client communications. Calls are intelligently logged based on matter association: as Fees when a single matter is found (perfect for billable time tracking), or as Tasks when multiple or no matters exist. All call and SMS events are tagged with the ion8-CALL activity code for easy filtering and reporting.

How It Works
Setting up the Smokeball integration takes about 10 minutes using API Key authentication. Call Connector automatically creates the ion8-CALL activity code in your firm settings - you don't need to do anything unless you want to customize the code's configuration (just keep the label as ion8-CALL).
Once connected, Call Connector intelligently routes communications based on matter association. When a single matter is found for the matched contact, calls are logged as Fees (perfect for billable time tracking) and SMS as Memos. When multiple or no matters are found, calls and SMS are logged as Tasks instead. If a user match is found, Tasks are assigned to that user; otherwise, they're assigned to the first user alphabetically (required by Smokeball). The default billable status for Fees can be configured in the Call Connector dashboard Options tab.
